Dougie has produced two different shows for children, both with the title
“Books Are Magic”
The two shows are for ages 4 to 7 years and 7 to 11 years. Each show features tricks which relate to books and promotes reading as an enjoyable pastime.
The show for the younger ages includes an alphabet trick, a routine based on a nursery rhyme, an arm puppet who loves reading, and balloon modelling (from a book!).
The show for 7 to 11 year olds includes the Guinness Book of Records, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the journal of The Magic Circle, a balloon modelling instruction book and a routine from a book entitled Magic Tricks.
Dougie is keen to encourage young people not only to read but also to read widely. He refers to a broad range of books.
Each show lasts 45 minutes and there are reduced fees for schools and libraries.
